Our virtual journey begins with the story of the discovery of Rewind Rome’s archeological site, retold in videos by the stars of this exciting adventure. Our young and professional staff, dressed in the costumes of imperial Roman, will welcome you, and will, with the aide of sophisticated audio guides available in 8 languages, guide you through the wonders of ancient Rome allowing you to experience history first hand.
Our journey continues going deeper into the tunnel where we encounter the glorious past of Rome thanks to faithful reconstructions of the incredible frescoes which decorated the tunnel of Emperor Commodus and the amazing mouldings representing the Maenads, the goddesses considered as the protectors of gladiators. A room which at first seems to be the centre of an archaeological dig, transforms with the help of special effects, into what were once the underground chambers of the Colosseum.
Here, we discover the area where the gladiators spent their last moments before entering into the arena, the place where they ate their last meal and where they stored their swords: in the dark, you can even hear the Latin prayers the gladiators recited, in preparation for what, for many of them, would be their final moment. What was a typical day at the Colosseum like? A precious polychrome mosaic will illustrate for us the highlights: hunting in the morning, executions at lunchtime and gladiator fights in the afternoon.
The mighty voice of Jupiter will open a secret passage which will lead us into his temple: a symbol of the power and the wealth of Rome. Here, our staff hands over the role of guide to Sapientinus, a virtual guide who will take you on a visit around his beloved city: Rome in 310 AD Games, day to day life, costumes, buildings and temples will serve as a backdrop for our journey in 3D which will permit us to experience up close, almost to the point of touching, the daily life of imperial Rome.
As our 3D journey ends, we begrudgingly say goodbye to friendly Sapientinus and continue our virtual journey through the history of Rome through such activities and places as:
- The “Wheel of Time”: travelling with the Roman emperors Romulus and Constantine
- Wearing a toga: how to dress like a true senator
